Christian McNeill

Main Stage

Sunday, June 3rd: 5:15pm

Born and raised in Derry, Ireland, Christian McNeill is a mighty force of psychedelic folk-tinged alternative rock and soul. He plays his acoustic guitar like a drum and is renowned for gritty, passionate live shows and songs with memorable lyrics anchored in infectious melodies. If you trace his career arc back to his early days with post-punk band, Schtum, to his most recent project, Sea Monsters, you will hear an engaging style of singing and songwriting that is ever-evolving. The uncompromising honesty of the song “Zero” recently caught the ear of The E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt, who in turn placed two songs from McNeill’s album “Everything’s Up For Grabs,” in heavy rotation on his globally broadcast, Underground Garage.

A New Englander of the past 21 years, he is a multi-Boston Music Award winner, taking home “Male Vocalist Of The Year,” two years running in 2011 and 2012. He has shared the stage with an eclectic mix of solo artists and bands including, Laura Marling, Manic Street Preachers, The Fugees, Mercury Rev, Paul Weller, The The, Morphine, Peter Wolf, The Violent Femmes, Bootsy Collins, The Allman Brothers and Alex Chilton of Big Star, to name a few.
